Tensions increased Sunday over what to do about the arms-carrying cargo ship hijacked off the coast of Somalia, as the pirates vowed to fight to the death, a hostage died and Somali officials urged the American Navy to send in commandos.According to a broadcast on the BBC Somali service, the pirates said that they could see an American destroyer nearby and several military aircraft tracking them, but that they were not afraid.
“They can’t catch us like goats,” said a man who said he was a spokesman for the pirates. “We will fight, and everyone here will die with us.”
"Pirate spokesman." I like that job. Enough of this banking business analyst stuff; I want to start a new career in pirate spokesmanship.

I didn't see a special "Talk Like a Pirate Day" post. I'm not sure you're ready for the job yet. We'll see what you do next Sept. 19.
Looks like a growth industry.
The French have had some pretty effective anti-piracy operations lately.
The US is probably deliberately not doing anything to fight this, as a way of fighting global warming.

Why would the US want to prevent global warming? It's a better way of wiping out polar bears than shooting them from the air. No, I'm thinking that since the Jesus-rapture hasn't worked out, they're trying to get the FSM (PBOH) to end the world, preferably before November 5.

Because Wall Street and Washington are at sea level. It's either that, or economically painful measures to cut fossil fuel consumption.
Those pirates better watch it. The Russian and American navies are on their case, and they are from a misbehaving 3rd world country with a conveniently accessible shoreline, and no air defence.
